As an amateur, he won a 1999 Galveston Troutmasters tournament.

Pat serves as president of the Coastal Conservation Association, working at the forefront of America's coastal conservation mission. He is a past chairman of the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission recreational fishing panel, and continues to be an impassioned voice for marine conservation and proper fisheries management across the nation.

Pat has written for numerous state and national publications. He is currently publisher of CCA’s nationally acclaimed TIDE magazine as well as working on the CCA Texas newsletter. He has won several writing awards, including the Texas Outdoor Writer’s Association Editorial-of-the-Year award.
